Travel guidelines
Passports and Visas
When you travel, it is your responsibility to find out and adhere to passport and visa regulations in your destination country. Regulations depend on the reasons for travelling.
It is recommended to always travel with a passport.
Nordic countries
As a general rule, it is not necessary to travel with a passport when travelling between the Nordic countries. It is sufficient to have a valid photo ID, like a driver's license.
Other countries
On the Danish Foreign Office's website, you can read which rules and regulations apply to other countries. The site can also direct you to more information about travelling, passports and visas.
It is the police that is the passport authority on the Faroe Islands. Information about passport applications or lost passports can be found here.
Insurance
It is important to have travel insurance and/or check if your travel insurance covers your journey.
If something unexpected should happen on your journey, it can become a very costly ordeal without adequate travel insurance.
It is for this reason, always a good idea to speak with your insurance provider before travelling to make sure that everything is in order before leaving.
Long-Haul Flights
Here is some advice for when you embark on long-haul flights:
Drink water instead of alcohol. Alcohol consumption can dehydrate your body and pose a greater risk for blood clots. Move around- wiggle your toes or walk up and down the aisle.
Stay calm. Do not get agitated over minor inconveniences, and refrain from consuming too much alcohol. Overconsumption of alcohol can lower your inhibitions and can heighten unnecessary tensions.
Respect the flight crew. The pilot is the highest authority onboard the aircraft, and any orders from the pilot should always be obeyed. Disorderly or disruptive behaviour can cause unwanted delays and an expensive compensation fee.
No Smoking is mandatory. The smoking ban is implemented for everyone's safety. Please note that there are several smoking alarms onboard the aircraft and they will activate if smoke is detected.
Prepare for no smoking. Bring nicotine gum or other methods to prepare yourself for the long journey.
Safety guidelines
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs regularly publishes travel guidelines on its website.
These travel guidelines provide advice and information about countries and territories with increased risk caused by war, threats of terrorism, civil unrest, natural disasters, criminality and similar dangers.
