www.icelandair.comIcelandair is an Icelandic airline that was founded in 1937 as Flugfélag Akureyrar, later renamed Flugfélag Íslands. Over time, Icelandair has developed into a key airline connectin Europe and North America, with it´s main hub in Keflavík.
The Faroese partnership with Icelandair dates back to the 1960s, when pioneers initiated the first regular scheduled flights between Vágar and Denmark, Norway, and Scotland. Icelandair operated regular flights to the Faroe Islands until 2004.
In 2024, Icelandair resumed its cooperation with Vágar Airport with regular flights between Vágar and Keflavík. From there, approximately 40–50 different destinations can be reached through Icelandair’s route network, including North America, Greenland, and Europe.
