Passenger numbers for 2006 break all records

208.000 passengers through the airport in 2006

Over 2006 a staggering 208.254 passengers came through the airport. This is the largest number of passengers ever for a single year. This growth is a 14,9% increase compared to the previous year, when the corresponding figure was 181.305.

On the various routes the following increases have been recorded:

Denmark     + 14,2%

Norway       + 88,9%

Iceland        + 18,9%

Great Britain - 4,2%

The busiest day in 2006 was the 6th of August, when 1.981 people came through the airport on 38 flights.

Over December, a total of 12.627 passengers arrived and departed through the airport. This is 16,5% more compared to December of 2005.

An annual total of 6.579 aircraft arrived and departed through the airport over 2006. THis is the largest number of flights ever to pass through the airport in a single year and represents an increase of 18,1% compared to the previous year, when the corresponding figure was 5.569.

The total amount of air cargo for 2006 has increased by 7,6%, from 856 tons to 922 tons.

The amount of airmail is continually decreasing. In 2002, airmail represented the largest single cargo item with 633 tons, while airmail last year only just managed to exceed 395 tons. The decrease in airmail last year was 8,1%.

Other airfreight last year amounted to 473 tons, which corresponds to an increase of 28,5% compared to the previous year. This is also the largest amount of airfreight ever transported in a single year.
