Better parking facilities at the airport

The new parking system will be taken into service on Monday October 05th 2009

It has been the desire of Vagar Airport to improve the service level regarding the parking facilities, and over the last two months working has been on-going to reorganise the parking area in front of the terminal. The area nearest to the terminal will now be reserved for busses, taxies and short-term parking, while all other parking will be directed to the long-term parking lot, which has been furnished with a barrier system. At the long-term parking lot the first hour is free, while a fee will be demanded for longer periods.

The barrier system is very simple and user-friendly. At the parking lot entrance, a parking ticket will be issued, which must be kept. Before departure, this parking ticket must be registered at the pay booth and the amount due can be paid either in cash or by credit card. At the departure gate the parking ticket is registered again, and the barrier will lift automatically.

Weather can be very inclement during the winter months and therefore the pay booth has been located indoors by the eastern entrance to the terminal. Passengers and airport staff, who use the parking lot, can depart the parking lot while the airport is open and access is possible to the pay booth.

In connection with the reorganisation of the parking lot, a parking attendant has been appointed who will monitor that parking is in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Vagar Airport sincerely hopes that its clients and passengers will be satisfied with this new parking arrangement.
