10% increase in passenger numbers over the first half of 2007

In June passenger numbers increased by 13,2%

Over the first six months of 2007, the total number of passengers through Vagar Airport was 97.854. This is a 10% increase compared to the corresponding period for 2006, when the figure stood at 88.952. On the major scheduled routes, which are to Denmark, the growth has been 11,7%. On routes to Great Britain a growth of 45,8% has been recorded. On routes to Norway and Iceland however a decrease of 42,7% and 5% respectively, has been recorded.

Over June, of 2007 a total of 24.206 passengers arrived and departed through the airport. This is 13,2% more compared to June of last year when the figure stood at 21.384. The increase for June is mainly attributed to the national football games played against Italia and Scotland and a number of people are also attending the Island Games currently being held on the island of Rhodes in the Mediterranean.

Over the first six months of 2007 a total of 2.562 aircraft have arrived and departed through the airport. This is 9,4% less compared to the first half of 2006, when 2.829 aircraft came and departed through the airport.

Over June of this year, 641 aircraft have arrived and departed. This is 4,8% less compared to the same month last year, when 673 aircraft came and departed through the airport.

Airfreight over the first six months has been 18,2% more compared to the first six months of last year, while airmail this year is approximately around the same level as last year.
