2,1% more passengers for April 2009

Although more passengers -fewer departures

Over April of 2009, 17.036 passengers arrived and departed through Vagar Airport. This is 2,1% more than for April 2008, when the figure stood at 16.685. Increases have been recorded on routes to Denmark, Iceland and Great Britain. There has also been an increase in passengers on the domestic helicopter service. No offshore aviation activities were in April of 2009, while there was some offshore aviation activity in April of last year.

To date, a total of 53.846 passengers have come through the airport. This is 12,1% less compared to the same period last year, when the corresponding figure was 61.274 passengers.

Over April there have been 385 departure and arrival flights. This is 9,6% less than April of last year, when there were 426 flight departure and arrival operations.
To date for 2009, 1.270 aircraft have arrived and departed. This is 28,5% less than the same period last year when 1.776 aircraft arrived and departed.

The total amount of airfreight transported to date this year is 231,2 tons, corresponding to 11,2% less than the same period last year.
